So you are thinking about a newer computer.
Here are some basic questions that I would suggest you answer prior to looking at a Web Site such as www.dell.com or making a phone call.
How old is
your present computer? If you answer 3 years or older then it is time.
What are your
reasons for owning a computer? Please list in order of importance as this will
determine the features required.
If like me you
are over fifty then you will need a good display and if two of your reasons for
owning a computer are to view pictures and/or play games then it would be
important to consider a 19 inch or larger widescreen display size although a 17 inch LCD might suffice.
What Microsoft
programs are you used to using? Microsoft Office? Works Suite?
List the other
programs that you frequently use.
List the
programs that you would like to own and why.
Are there
things that you would like to be able to do? List.
An average home computer system these days should minimally consist of:
Processor -
Pentium Dual Core (1.8Ghz)
Memory - 2GB RAM
Hard Drive -
250GB
Display - 19
inch widescreen
DVD
player.
Windows Vista Home Premium
Do you have a budget? You should be thinking in terms of $900 and upwards.
Call and speak to a salesperson with your computer on and already have your favorite browser displaying their web site. Ask questions and try to avoid cheap packages because they are and probably will not be able to do what you need.
